Saffer on the importance of combining the making with the thinking in design. Of course the question becomes: What is ‘making’ in a multidisciplinary design context such as the one I find myself in as an IxD? Good stuff nonetheless.

Disagree with point one, agree with point two. And like Mr Jones, I’m quite sure this also applies to web design.

Hoi Kars :)
Out of interest: why do you disagree with point one?
Hoi Jurie. I’d noticed you are a fellow countryman. I disagree with your first point because as a freelance designer I have been lucky enough to be hired to do game design. Admittedly not for a triple A console title, but game design nonetheless!
Well, my post was not very nuanced, on purpose. There are free-lance designers and I’ve been offered design / up front work. But I did notice a tendency to ignoring the problem and trying to fix it later.
Good for you on doing game design :)
Well bold statements tend to spark debate, so I can’t blame you for taking that route. Perhaps I should try that sometime myself. And thanks!
