YouTube is a spam machine!

Recently, I was trying to import some contacts from Gmail to YouTube. After going through a Plaxo dialog to select all my contacts, I assumed the next step would be to see who of those contacts were on YouTube. I thought wrong, in stead the service has e-mailed every address I imported (almost 200) an invitation to connect with me without my explicit consent.

Naturally, I’m quite upset about the whole situation and have decided to at least offer my apologies for bothering anyone with this spam. If you’ve received a YouTube invitation from frog1980 and thought it was inappropriate, I’m very sorry to have unwontedly bothered you.

Also, I hope someone of YouTube reads this and will make it a point to reconsider the way importing contacts works. Spamming my friends without my consent is not a cool thing to do.

Back with a black label

Just a short post to check in. I arrived back from Vienna this weekend. The week’s training was a lot of fun, very hot and quite successful. I managed to pass all my examinations which means I’m 2^nd dan Takeda Ryu aikido now, and have received my assistants-license. Huzzah!

I didn’t take that many photos, most of them after a day’s training, but there’s a few up at Flickr now. Here’s my favourite shot:

Off to Vienna

I’ll be off to Vienna in a few hours. I’ll be training Takeda Ryu for five days at the Matsumae Budo Center and resting my battered body in the Bosei Hotel. The week will include a tournament and some examinations, so I’m excited to see the outcome of those. I’ll be back on the air next week!

Mobile gaming directions

Yesterday we had another fun and interesting IA Cocktail Hour. Thanks to the kind folk at Media Catalyst for the hospitality and Olly and Boyd for their presentations. I thought I’d put up the slides of my short talk on where I think (non-console) mobile gaming is or should be headed. I’ve added some notes, so there’s more than just pretty pictures to look at. Update: Reviewing the above list, I guess I have some explaining to do: all the angel-related stuff is due to me having spent too much time inside Italian churches, I’m looking forward to the DS Lite’s European release, I’ve recently checked out a this file-management interface-demo and yesterday I wrote a review of Suzuki’s Ringu-trilogy (for which I used the Matryoshka-metaphor) .

Back by dope demand. Yesterday I returned from my lovely trip to Italy. Dirty clothes are in the laundromat, I’ve caught up on paperwork and e-mail, now it’s time to start going through the huge amounts of photos. Me and my girlfriend have managed to knock off the first few days, but I’ve got literally thousands lying around (I know shouldn’t have bought a new camera…) So it’ll take a while before we’ve gone through ’em all. In the mean time the first few are up. Here’s my favourite of the batch.

Off to Italy

After a slight delay I’m off to Italy in a few hours. I’ll be visiting Rome, Florence and Venice. Expect plenty of photos when I return. Back in less than two weeks!
